Welcome Letter
Dear Sister Ellis,
We are grateful your missionary, Lexi Ellis, has been assigned to the California Roseville Mission.
You can help with the necessary preparation by encouraging your missionary to do the following:
1. Study the Book of Mormon daily and write down impressions in a study journal.
2. Study Preach My Gospel daily, focusing especially on Chapters 3, 9 and 10.
3. Study the Missionary Handbook and Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ.
4. Share the Restored Gospel with a non-member or less-active friend.
Other helpful preparations include the following:
1. Attend the temple, if possible.
2. Teach from the lessons found in Chapter 3 of Preach My Gospel during Family Home Evening.
3. Proselyte with the full-time missionaries in teaching investigators.
4. Adopt a missionary life style by reducing and eventually eliminating customary
entertainment, including movies, video games, social media surfing, popular music, and non-church related reading.
5. Keep a missionary schedule of going to bed at 10:30 pm and waking at 6:30 am.
Additionally, it will help reduce initial home sickness when family and friends communicate with your missionary on preparation days according to the direction given in section 3.9 of Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ.
Also, we would like to remind you that the mission policy/best practice is to send letters and packages to the mission office.
Please review this letter with your missionary and counsel on any other matters that will help in preparing for the mission field.
Sister Basha and I will do our best to love and support your missionary. We know great blessings await your entire family during this time of dedicated service to the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Warmest regards,
President Edward Basha
California Roseville Mission
