Week 8 Area: Olive Branch (Corning) Comp: Hermana Tingey Funny Highlights Ate Peruvian food for the first time. Muuuuy rico. SO. MANY. FIELDS! We drive a lot because our area is so big, and there are so many fields and orchards here! I love the open space! We've met a lot of farmers. I got to play a hand pan drum??? We had an ice cream night with a member, and he casually just has all these cool drums and let us jam for a minute. Went to dinner with Hna Tingey's grandma. She was driving through our mission, and we got permission from our mission president, so that was fun! Hna Tingey and I performed in the English ward's talent show. We told the best dad jokes you've ever heard (e.g., why did the scarecrow win an award? He was outstanding in his field). One of the primary kids said to me on Sunday, "You're the joke girl! I liked them." So I'm famous, what can I say? (Soy chistosa, Hna Park). We got a whole bag full of old European maps and travel logs ...

Week #7 Area: Olive Branch Companion: Hermana Tingey! I am officially in the field now! And holy cow, has this week been insane. Our last week of the MTC simultaneously flew by and seemed to drag on forever. We had so many incredible experiences, miracles, blessings, lessons learned, memories made, etc. Elder Renlund spoke at our last devotional about covenants and temples and how important they are (spoiler alert: they are not just important but absolutely essential! Message me to learn more). It was such a powerful talk to leave off on. We said goodbye to our MTC district this week (shoutout Élder Guthrie and Élder Jones for paving the way. Those were happy tears, I promise). Shoutout to district 27G—they all truly became my best friends and family over these last 6 weeks. Relationships rooted in Christ have an insane and unexplainable way of becoming stronger and more supportive than any other kind of relationship! I cannot wait to see all of the incredible things they do and the li...

Week 6 - RIP Elder Young

Area: Provo MTC Companions: Hna Lamb and Hna Park Some Highlights: -GENERAL CONFERENCE! I love, love, loved the talks from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, Elder Shayne M Bowen, and President Nelson! There is not enough room in this email to talk about how amazing they were, but I will say that God is good. Heaven, eternal exaltation, and the opportunity to have eternal happiness (as well as the lack thereof) are very, very real, and Christ truly is the head of this church. I highly encourage you all to go read these talks on lds.org and to listen to the other ones from conference if you weren't able to tune in to it last weekend! -Our district is hosting 2 native Spanish-speaking sisters, and they got here on Sunday! Long story short, they're doing home MTC right now but are here in person at the Provo MTC doing all of their classes online. The rest of their district gets here on Wednesday, but until then, they are honorary members of our district! They come to church with us and joi...

Week 5 - "I Have Zero Depth Perception"

Area: Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC) Companions: Hermana Lamb and Hermana Park Friday Temple trip again!! We got to do child-to-parent sealings at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. I was able to take the names of two of my ancestors who were sisters but died as infants. I know that the temple truly is a place of healing and love, on both sides of the veil. (Email me if you have any questions about this! It is so cool and I would love to talk about it with you!) Saturday We watched this special musical performance called The Lamb of God. It was a beautiful musical representation of the last week of the Savior's life leading up to His crucifixion and Atonement. It was powerful to hear and see such a meaningful story in the in-person musical sense. Sunday EASTER SUNDAY!!! We had three devotionals today. One by Peter M. Johnson from the Quorum of the Seventy. He was so cool. In essence, he talked about HOW to let Christ into your life more fully. Hint: you have to 1. Engage in, live, ...
