Week 12, Transfer 1 Area: Olive Branch (Corning) Comp: Hna Tingey Fotos!! (I upload all of my mission pictures from the week to this photo album, so if you want to see them, go join the photo album with this link!) https://photos.app.goo.gl/UtFZf4erpztBvg7x5 ¡Hola a todos! Highlights -Had some fire lessons!! Also had a lot of lessons fall through, but you focus on the wins where you can haha. -Did a lot of finding work! Gotta feed the funnel (we did lots of knocking and lots of learning how it feels when the spirit leaves the closer you get to certain houses). -I did my first actually successful door approach in Spanish!! We shared a scripture and the guy was super chill! We later found out that family was previously taught by missi...

Week 11 Area: Olive Branch (Corning) Companion: Hermana Tingey Photos!! https://photos.app.goo.gl/UtFZf4erpztBvg7x5 Hola hola, qué tal?? Highlights: We grinded this week. Tried to make every day as productive as possible. We're definitely not perfect at it by any means, but we're doing better every week, so that's a win! Made cookies on Thursday/Friday and delivered them to inactive members, friends who were formerly taught, and some current friends! Had some super fire discussions, met some awesome people, and started teaching some friends again because of it! Had some awesome meals with members! The 6 missionaries in our area get fed almost every night by members--it's the best! It's fun to get to know families in the English ward! (PS Mom, we had egg salad the other day and it actually wasn't terrible ;) Hermana Tingey started a sourdough starter from scratch! And it's actually going really well! Today’s day 10 so she's gonna start making stuff with i...

Mac And Cheese Is Always A Necessity

Week 10 Area: Olive Branch (Corning) Companion: Hna Tingey This week was a week for sure, haha. One of the coolest things that happened was WE MET JOSE! Backstory: We got a call last weekend from Elders in the San Francisco/Oakland mission about a friend they're teaching (Jose) who actually lives in our area. José met some missionaries while on a trip who referred him to the San Fran Elders who then referred him to us (since we're the missionaries in his home area). Turns out the San Fran Elders basically almost put him on a baptismal date their first lesson! We did a pass-off lesson with José and the Elders last Tuesday and talked more about baptism. He literally takes notes during lessons and is so excited to learn about Jesus Christ's church!! His only concern with our lessons and baptism is that he's so busy during the week so the only day he could be baptized is on a Sunday. We can work with that ;) Pray for José this week, please!! Other highlights: -Spanish is co...

Man, Some Men Are Weird

Week 9 Area: Olive Branch Comp: Hna Tingey Tuesday Had some fire lessons, almost put two people on a date, and had cookie night with the Lequia's! Wednesday Went to district council! We talked about what life would be like without the gospel (hint, it'd be super sad). We talked about how, as missionaries, our line of work is saving souls. But we don't have the power to literally save souls, so our work and glory is to direct others to the One who can (Jesus Christ)--to the One whose "work and glory is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39) Because of Christ's gospel, we know what's to come in the next life, so we've got to be bold in declaring the good news of the gospel. Despite what the world may think, our goal as missionaries isn't to force people to join this church--our goal is to help others feel loved through the love of Christ, prepare people a little better for eternity, and live life with a little more jo...
