Merica Week :)

Hola a todos! Imma jump right in today--

Social Media & Olympics
We had a mission-wide "social media Olympics" challenge that ended this week and a party on Friday to celebrate! With the challenge, we were trying to add 500 friends, send 100 messages, cold-call 10 people, make 10 posts, and find 2 new friends through Facebook. It was insane, but so many miracles happened because of it! On the last few days of the challenge, we prayed so hard and found 3 new friends to teach and are continuing to find more.

4th of July
We celebrated "Merica Day" by going to the Los Molinos parade with the sisters we live with and the Corning Elders! We made these cute little things to pass out (church fliers on glow sticks in both English and Spanish—we were pretty proud of it, haha). They unintentionally looked like flags, so it was very fitting. The Elders were not impressed with the glow sticks, but they were good sports about it, and we found 2 new friends because of it! We also, lowkey, had a lunch and 2 member dinners on the 4th. Needless to say, the people of Corning are awesome, but I've also eaten enough burgers and hotdogs this week to last me the rest of my mission.

Zone Conference!
Zone Conference was SO good! Sister Basha talked about essentially living in such a way that the Savior can always be near you. She based it on the primary song If the Savior Stood Beside Me. I LOVE that song, and to be honest, it's been stuck in my head at least once a day for the last, like, month and a half, haha. Keeping the question "If the Savior stood beside me, would I do the things I do?" in mind will help us immensely in the things we do.

President Basha talked about how if the things we disliked, feared, or worried about were "easy," everyone would love them. We need opposition and difficult experiences in order to see the light. He said something along the lines of:
"When all the lights are on, you can't see the stars outside. Sometimes it takes darkness (trials) for us to be able to see the goodness that awaits us (millions of stars on a clear night)."

Remember to always do our best to give, do, and be our best.

Remember that the sun always rises and the darkness always passes. Some nights seem longer than others, but there will always be little spots of brightness to get us through until the sun comes up again!
