Día De Los Muertossss

Week 35, Transfer 5
Area: Yuba City (Tierra Buena Branch)
Compañera: Hermana Park

Highlights

Junior came to church for the FIRST TIME! He loved it and then came to lunch at a member's house with all 10 missionaries in the branch afterward. Solid member lesson/homie session.
We had our Día de los Muertos party this week! The missionaries put it on (and by "the missionaries," I mean the other hermanas. They are AMAZING!) We worked hard inviting people to this party. So many of our friends came! We watched Coco and talked about family history, had a grito contest, and ate a very American dinner.
Found a super sweet girl while walking down the street and a guy in a trailer park this weekend! Super excited to have return lessons with them.
Went to the Sikh festival! It was super cool to experience another culture. It 100% felt like I was not in the U.S. It was very disorienting because we don't speak the language or understand the culture very well, but it was amazing to learn more about other beliefs and meet some cool people!
Had some top-notch member dinners. One sweet Hermana from the branch woke up at 3 a.m. to cook and made the whole dinner basically to say thank you for all we do as missionaries. She is absolutely incredible!
Update on the car situation: we're taking it in on Tuesday... pray for us. We're trusting that there's a reason for it and that God will help us this week!
James 4:6-7
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

I'm learning how to be more humble this week. And guess what? The secret is in this scripture: "draw nigh unto God and he will draw nigh unto you. Cleanse your hands... and purify your hearts." We can't be double-minded. No one-foot-in, one-foot-out mindset. If we want to change, we have to commit, or else nothing will come of it. If we want to come unto Jesus Christ—to feel His love, to learn of His grace, to receive His forgiveness and cleansing power—we have to commit and "submit ourselves to God and resist the devil."

Remember that God loves you, always and forever!
