Feliz Navidad!!!

Week 42, Transfer 6
Area: Yuba City (Tierra Buena Branch)
Compañera: Hermana Park

Highlights

Found Sylvia this week! Hna. Park found her on an exchange, and she was so down to come to church. She ended up having a situation and couldn't come, so we stopped by and shared about eternal families, and she was very excited to set a return appointment next week!

Had our mission-wide Christmas party! We did some service projects making food bags, birthday cards, and fun Christmas things, made a rap about Buddy the Elf, ate Christmas dinner, and had a super good devotional that was basically our zone conference for the transfer, so it was super lit!

Our Spanish branch's Christmas service on Sunday was combined with the Hmong branch and the English ward. It was super crazy but super cool. There was a lot of music! Each branch/ward sang a musical number, and so did the primary kids. One of our new friends came to church for the first time and really liked it!

Fun fact: the realization of how you say "Christmas" in Spanish didn't hit until about six months into the mission... even though I grew up singing "Feliz Navidad." At least I learned before la temporada navideña.

Spiritual thought
Two of my favorite stories about the reason behind Christmas. They both testify of the reality of Jesus Christ as our Savior.

Luke 2:10-11
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

This week we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Words cannot express the magnitude of this gift, and if you wonder why I say that, please send me a message. Because of Jesus Christ, we have hope. We have joy. We have the promise of eternal families, like we testified to Sylvia this week and as we testify every day of our missions and lives.

This week, focus on Jesus Christ. He's the reason for the season, after all. If He gave everything for us, the least we can do is give a little bit of time to learn of Him and invite the Spirit into our lives.

Notable Quotes:
Hna. Ellis: I don't know that much about science.
Hna. Park: I only know stuff about anatomy and physiology... so, body parts of human beings!
Elder Peterson: I must've joined this conversation at the wrong time.

Hna. Morgan out of the absolute blue on a silent car ride: How the FREAK did they figure out how to make a microphone?

Hna. Ellis: Do you think the words "cumber" and "cucumber" have any relation at all?
Hna. Park: No.
