DUBS!
Week 47, Transfer 7
Area: Yuba City (Tierra Buena Branch)
Compañera: Hermana Park
DUBS DINNERS this week!
Celebrated the birthday of one of our members, Lupita, with her and her family!!! She wanted all of the missionaries there and made delicious enchiladas and had 3 leches cake for dessert. She's literally the sweetest, I love her so much! We also had AMAZING Chile relleno with Hermana Quintero and ate with our branch president's family, the Zermeños!
Met a sweet older lady this week
She talked about her garden and the visions she has where she receives songs from God and then sings them with a cute little tambourine in her church.
Dubs lessons with Antonia (1st lesson with her!)
She's seen our Facebook page and saw the Book of Mormon on it, so we were able to explain it to her. I was on exchanges with the English sisters, so they bore powerful testimony in English and I translated. Antonia felt the power behind them even before I translated. She's so down to come to church... like SO excited. Please pray for her this next week that she'll make it on Sunday!
And Leti
Homegirl has been sick for a fat minute but is better now, so we met with her this week and she is so close to baptism. Please keep praying for her!!! She's so excited to come to church this week and bring her mom too!
Lots of social media work this week.
I joined a Bible group a while back and it is mind-blowing every time I open it to see people literally reaching out for help coming closer to God, people saying "I don't know how to pray or where to start with the scriptures or what xyz means," etc., etc. Sharing little pieces of the gospel with so many people and seeing how receptive a lot of them are is amazing. Missionary work can take SO many different forms—that is why it is so important to pay attention to how we, as disciples of Jesus Christ, present ourselves (whether we are youth, missionaries, parents, grandparents, college students, technologically challenged/gifted, or anything in between), because the little things we share and do every day, whether online or in person, can stand as a witness of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places... and there are so many people watching when they know we're followers of Jesus Christ, so in everything you do, be mindful of who or what you're representing and the eternal weight of it all.
Spiritual thought
The primary song "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" has honestly played in my mind at least once a day for the last almost 11 months... and it stands as a good reminder for all of us, along the lines of what I said about social media ^^^
"If the Savior stood beside me, would I do the things I do?
Would I think of His commandments and try harder to be true?
Would I follow His example? Would I live more righteously
if I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?
If the Savior stood beside me, would I say the things I say?
Would my words be true and kind if He were never far away?
Would I try to share the gospel? Would I speak more reverently
if I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?"
Keep being awesome everyone! I love you all,
Hermana Ellis
