Highlights, Lowlights, and Rollercoasters
JOANA HAS A DATE FOR BAPTISM!!! Please keep praying for her; she's going to need some extra strength these next few weeks!
Our friend Alex MOVED. She got notice two days in advance. She'll be gone for work training for 14 weeks, BUT she gets one call every Sunday, and since she doesn't have much family, she asked if we could call every week and have lessons over the phone. The missionary heart in me was SOOO HAPPY! She is the elect of the elect. PLEASE KEEP PRAYING FOR ALEX!!
Had our first lesson with our friend Valentin!!! He had some crazy good questions. He wanted to know the differences between our church and his church, and we were able to testify so strongly of prophets and apostles, eternal families, life after death, the spirit world, and the three kingdoms. At the end, he asked us, lowkey out of the blue, "Why are there so many churches, and how do I know which one is right or true?" Cue restoration pamphlet and a man who actually studies the "homework" we give him—and a dubs lesson for next week (which he asked for before we could ;)
Invited a guy in the YSA to church... didn't know the summer sales bro was a member haha.
Got to teach two sweet friends of ours about the reality of our Savior, Jesus Christ!!! They barely know anything about Jesus, just what they've heard in passing from preachers in Mexico, so it's been so cool to read the scriptures with them and help them learn and gain a testimony of the most basic gospel principles!!
The social media team filmed a music video with Hermana Griffin and some of the other sisters (go check the Follow Christ page on Facebook in a few weeks for it!). Since I wasn’t directly in the video, I got to chase goats out of the camera view through these open fields and play with them. It was epic.
Spiritual Thought
1 Peter 4:6-7
"6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
"7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer."
This scripture came to mind out of the blue (although nothing really is out of the blue in God's work!). The joy that we have because we know that death is not the end and that the gospel is actively being preached to those who never were able to find or accept it while living with us on the earth. And the joy those who were faithful to their covenants have to be those missionaries to bring the joyful message of the gospel to those without such joy and light in their lives. Study this chapter and find out what it means for you, your loved ones who may have passed without a knowledge of their Savior, and how it can apply in your life with the knowledge you either have of Christ or would like to gain! Let me know any thoughts you have!
QUE TENGA UNA BUENA SEMANA!!
