A Window Into Heaven :)

Week 59, Transfer 9

Area: Auburn (Auburn 2nd Ward & Spanish group!!!)

Compañera: Hermana Griffin

Happy happy Easter everyone! I hope celebrating the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ this year was a powerful reminder of God's love for YOU.

We had zone conference this week with a member of the Seventy—Elder Peter M. Johnson, go listen to his talk from April 2019 General Conference!—who came and spoke to us! Such a powerful experience and incredible to be taught by the Spirit through a called representative of Jesus Christ.

We were able to go to the Sacramento temple this past Saturday with our Spanish group from the ward and something super cool happened!

Our group was small and there was only one member who could baptize and one other member who could do the confirmations. So Raymond, one of our recent converts(!!), baptized the group of us for over 20 family members, and Juan did all of the confirmations.

I was the last to get baptized and the last to come out of the dressing room, which meant they'd already started doing the confirmations. Before I walked into the confirmation room, I stopped and looked through the window on the door to wait until there was a break so I could go in, and what I saw was a little piece of heaven.

Hermano Juan can't see very well, and the printed words they read for the confirmation are too small for him to see, so Sister Jenkins stood behind him whispering the words to him so he could repeat them and perform the confirmations.

I wish words could paint the unforgettable picture that I saw in that moment. Peeking through the door to see these disciples of Christ diligently doing all they can to help their ancestors receive the joy of the gospel on the other side of the veil felt as if I was peeking into the other side of heaven. I felt as if this is how angels see us sometimes.

The light from the window behind them illuminated the recorder at the desk diligently keeping track of everything, Sister Jenkins patiently being a helping hand, Juan so fervently and intently listening and performing the confirmation, and Hermana Stephanie acting as proxy for someone who has already passed on, who were all so earnestly working together with such genuine love to play a part in God's work and glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of all of His children.

This week, look for the little sacred moments that come up in your day to day. Pay attention to the moments when God gives you glimpses through an eternal lens. They happen every day, both small things, and big things like what I was blessed to witness this week. Write down your experiences. Cherish them and keep them in a safe place to help you remember God's hand in your life when you inevitably travel through rough seas.

He Lives!!! And wants each of us to love again as well!

Notable Quotes:

Hna Griffin: Now the ants have to climb the Tower of Babel if they want to get to the macaroni and cheese.

Us: We're missionaries

Guy at his door: I thought you guys were Jehovah's Witnesses!

Us: We're missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Guy at his door: Oh, you're Mormons. shuts the door immediately

Hna Griffin while thinking of which members we could bring to lessons with certain friends: Sister Jenkins would be great at going with the flow and Graciela and Rey are good at... creating the flow.
