Follow The Spirit To Find The Souls To Save

Week 58, Transfer 9
Area: Auburn (Auburn 2nd Ward & Spanish group!!!)
Compañera: Hermana Griffin

This week has been a wild ride.

I don't have much to offer this week other than God is in the details, a short story, and a scripture.

Yesterday we were going knocking. We pulled up to the street we'd previously chosen, but both felt like there was somewhere else we needed to be and like there was someone specific we needed to find. So we said a prayer for guidance and started driving. Talked to some people along the way and kept driving. Said another prayer. Talked to more people on the way. We simply drove and turned where we felt like we should.

We ended up in a neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac and knocked around, solely finding people who spoke English and weren't super interested. We were able to have some cool conversations though and spread a little bit of light, attempted church invites, and Family History Fair flyers amidst the very kindly slammed doors with no real "new friends" gained.

It was an exercise of faith. We told God that we weren't sure where we were going but we trusted Him and needed His guidance. We gave it all to Him in that moment. There's not many times in most lives where someone can truly say they gave it all to God, me especially. But to say "I'm willing to be your hands and feet" is what we should strive for every moment of every day because it's what not only we need, but what everyone around us needs as well.

I'm not 100% sure why we were sent where we were. We ended up at a lady's door who used to be a member but has since turned very, very against God and the church. I think our conversation with her may have been part of the reason, but nevertheless, it was so cool to go on the search for souls to save. We truly had no clue where we were going or where to turn, we simply just had the Spirit to follow and God to trust and that, my friends, is something incredible.

I also read this scripture this week — Mosiah 2:20
20 I say unto you, my brethren, that if you should render all the thanks and praise which your whole soul has power to possess, to that God who has created you, and has kept and preserved you, and has caused that ye should rejoice, and has granted that ye should live in peace one with another.

People always talk about gratitude, missionaries especially, but this scripture hit different the day I read it. I KNOW that when we recognize our gratitude, we truly can rejoice, have joy, and live in peace one with another with all those who are around us. So if you're struggling to rejoice or get along with people around you or just need some extra help from God… write down what you're grateful for. I've started writing down random things I'm grateful for at the end of the day and it has completely changed around my attitude and heart that day to rejoice more! Doing this in your own life will CHANGE your life. No matter how small or silly it seems, vale la pena (it's worth it). Trust me.

Good is out there! God is always near. Go find the good and seek after God this week!
