Thanks For Caring Enough To Save My Soul

Week 57, Transfer 9
Area: Auburn (Auburn 2nd Ward & Spanish group!!!)
Compañera: Hermana Griffin

We had a really cool interaction this week. We'll call him John. We saw John outside after trying to visit one of our friends who wasn’t home. I saw him outside, but we started walking to the car instead. Halfway to the car, I realized we needed to turn around.

Long story short, John has died before. He told us that after he died, he was in a period of waiting. He basically described it as a grey/one area where he didn't know what he was waiting for, but he knew that whatever it was was so incredible that he would've waited a million years for whatever it was.

John was waiting for the gospel. We were able to testify of eternal truths and of hope. He may have been skeptical that an answer could've come so easily, but we left him with a lot to consider and a pamphlet about the Plan of Salvation.

As we left, hoping the Spirit and something we said touched his heart, we told him, "Thanks for chatting this afternoon," and he told us something I will never forget: "Thanks for caring enough to save my soul."

That's what we do. We are here to save souls. Whether full-time missionaries or disciples of Christ in the everyday, we have the knowledge of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and our mission is to save souls. To my missionary friends out there, this is a noble work. No conversation is wasted, no jumbled testimony in a 2nd language you're struggling to learn is without the Spirit, no act of kindness is too out of the way. Keep going. Keep being awesome. The Lord loves you. The Lord needs you. KEEP GOING!

Hurrah for Israel!

P.S. General Conference was AMAZING!!!! Please, please go watch it if you didn't have the opportunity to this weekend!! So many answers and the Spirit come during this sacred conference twice a year, and we get to hear from our living prophet and apostles to guide us in these latter days!! What a blessing!
