We Have So Much To Be Glad About!

Week 65, Transfer 10 
Area: Auburn (Auburn 2nd Ward Spanish Group & Lincoln 4th Spanish Branch)

Highlights:

Met a sweet mom with 2 little girls this week. One of the first things one of the girls said to us was, "I know 2 Articles of Faith! Wanna hear them?" They're not members, but their dad is apparently a recent convert in another area of our mission! It was so sweet to hear her recite these Articles of Faith and see how joyful she was while talking about them and to see her LIGHT UP when we offered them a Book of Mormon.

Found a cute family this week and got some cool social media referrals!

Found out we're double covering the Spanish group in Auburn and the Spanish branch in Lincoln, effective immediately. It's going to be a lot to figure out with 3 weeks left of the transfer, but I'm so excited!!!! (@ Hermana Park, I thought you'd like this update ;)

Our friend on date, Joana, told us that she started reading the Bible and Book of Mormon from the beginning of her own accord because she has so much free time this summer and wants nothing more than to study them! She then proceeded to recount the story of the angel Moroni and Joseph Smith and the plates in crazy detail. She is AMAZING and so excited for her baptism on the 15th!! Please pray for her!

Got told by our mission's car advisor at 8:53 a.m. on Tuesday that our car needed to be in the shop at 9 a.m. We waited there for about 3 hours but ultimately got a new car, so that was wild.

More miracles than we can count of being in the right place at the right time this week.

Had interviews with our mission President!! It was so cool to connect with him and lowkey reminisce about the time I've been out and how we both can't believe I'm already at 15 months. He gave some much-needed counsel and closed with one of his very thoughtful, spirit-filled prayers.

The members and people here are SO KIND!!!! We got so much food from them this week. Our members invited us to a family dinner the day after they had a giant party, so they had TONSS of leftovers and told us and the Elders to take a lot! They were so sweet!

"Someone who faced circumstances far more desperate than you and I ever will once cried: ‘Go forward [my beloved young friends]. Courage, … and on, on to the victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad.’ We have so much to be glad about. We have each other, and we have Him. Don’t deny us the chance to have you..."

When the path ahead has roadblocks and difficulties and mountains, don't forget to let your hearts rejoice and be exceedingly glad (have joy) as you go forward with COURAGE! We have so much to be glad about. Don't forget to look up and find it.

Week 59, Transfer 9 Area: Auburn (Auburn 2nd Ward & Spanish group!!!) Compañera: Hermana Griffin This week was INSANE! God is cooking. Talked to EVERYONE and their MOM (literally) this week because it's getting darker later (so we can be outside for longer!!!) and the weather is better so people are spending more time outside. This, some new finding methods, epic referrals from the English missionaries, and LOTS of Heavenly help led us to find 7 new friends to teach this week AND almost the same amount of people who are interested in meeting with us as we have number of people we're currently actively teaching!! Our members here are AMAZING. We had 6 lessons where members participated. They always bring such a good spirit, insights, and experiences that we as 20-year-old missionaries oftentimes just can't relate to that ultimately help our friends a ton. Week 75, Transfer 12 Area: Chico Bidwell Spanish Branch Compañera: Hermana Hinton It's been a while and a lot has happened! Sorry for not sending an email in a while, thanks for your patience! I hope all is well! Let's run it. Highlights!! We have 4 friends on date, all planning to be baptized this transfer!!! They are so cool and so prepared. We've got Karina (the mom of 2 of our new members), doña Julia (Karina's soon-to-be husband's aunt), and Marlina and Mailani, 2 of the daughters of our new member Miguel! Julia gave us these EPIC T-shirts with our faces printed on them haha, and we gave her a baptismal progress chart; we met her in the Ross parking lot to exchange them. It was a few days before she came to church for the first time, and she told us she needed to go buy a dress for Sunday, so we met up before she went in. Week 79, Transfer 12 Area: Chico Bidwell Spanish Branch Compañera: Hermana Hinton The time has come! 557 days 79 weeks 8 companions 4 áreas ...and too many amazing people and miracles to count later... Family and friends, What a joy this mission has been! To wear my Savior's name on my chest every day has been the biggest blessing I've ever received. I've had amazing companions, incredible mission leaders, and gotten to know the best people ever!
